California Green Building Code, CALGreen – Community Connectivity
California Green Building Code, CALGreen – Energy efficiency design is an integral part of any building built in the state of California. All newly constructed building as well as addition and alteration projects are required to meet the minimum energy efficiency thresholds.
Covering and protection of ducts and mechanical equipment during construction in a CALGreen mandatory measure. It is applicable to all Residential and Non-Residential projects. This measure is triggered if there is a probability of any part of the HVAC system being exposed to dust and fumes from the construction process.
Section ‘Acoustical Control’ of California Green Building Code, CALGreen, is a mandatory measure applicable for all Non-Residential buildings.

CALGreen promotes sustainable bio-based materials that are rapidly renewable and are responsible harvested. This is an elective measure that can be selected to meet CALGreen Tier 1 and Tier 2 requirements.
This is an elective CALGreen measure and can be used by remodeling and rebuild projects as well as new construction projects building on previously developed lots. The CALGreen code language is as follows.

Continuous board insulation is defined by ASHRAE 90.1 (the U.S. energy standard for all commercial and some residential buildings) as “Insulation that is continuous across all structural members without thermal bridges other than fasteners and service openings. It is installed on the interior, exterior, or is integral to any opaque surface of the building envelope.”
